The situation

Ridgeline ran two trucks and a service manager who also answered the phone. Word of mouth had carried them for nine years. Then two national consolidators bought up competitors in Blount County and started outspending everyone on search.

The owner's read was simple: the phone rang less in shoulder season than it used to, and the jobs that did come in were smaller. Replacement quotes had dried up almost entirely.

The problem

The diagnosis was not a marketing problem. It was a discoverability problem with a measurable radius.

Ridgeline ranked in the Map Pack for searches within roughly three miles of their shop on Sevierville Road and nowhere else. Their Google Business Profile listed one service category. Their website had a single Services page covering heating, cooling, and indoor air quality in 340 words total. There were no pages for Alcoa, Louisville, Rockford, or Friendsville — the exact places their trucks already drove daily.

They were not losing to better marketing. They were losing to companies Google could actually read.

The work

Rebuilt the Google Business Profile as a ranking asset

Added nine service categories, loaded 40 geotagged job photos, wrote service descriptions for each offering, and set up a weekly posting cadence tied to seasonal demand.

Built the service-area page architecture

Fourteen pages: seven cities crossed with the two highest-value services, each written around what people in that town actually search, with real local reference points instead of swapped city names.

Installed the review engine

Automated a text request 90 minutes after job completion through their existing dispatch software. Review volume went from roughly two a month to 19.

Fixed the leak at the phone

Missed-call text-back plus a tracked number per channel. The first month of call recordings showed 31% of inbound calls went unanswered during peak hours.

The results

Measured in Google Business Profile Insights, Google Search Console, and their dispatch software over months one through five against the same five months a year prior.

  • Booked calls per month rose 62%.
  • Map Pack impressions tripled, with visibility extending across Blount County and into south Knox.
  • Cost per booked call settled at $41 blended across SEO and profile work.
  • Replacement quote requests, the metric the owner actually cared about, roughly doubled.

The single largest jump came from answering the phone, not from ranking. Ranking created the opportunity. The missed-call fix captured it.

We thought we needed more advertising. What we actually needed was for Google to know we drive to Alcoa every day. Nobody had ever explained the difference to us.

If you serve seven towns and have one Services page, Google has no reason to show you in six of them. Service-area pages are not a trick. They are the only way a search engine learns that you actually work in Louisville, Tennessee.

Before spending anything on ads, check two things: how many of your inbound calls go unanswered during your busiest hours, and how many service categories your Google Business Profile lists. Fixing those two is usually worth more than the first six months of any advertising budget.

"42nd street has helped bring my business and vision to life in ways I could have only imagined. But more than that, their focus on building meaningful relationships with clients puts them a tier or two above the rest. I would highly recommend"
