How long does a magnet last on an appliance?
Years. The print holds up well indoors, and unlike a card it never gets thrown away in a drawer clean-out. This is the piece that produces calls two and three years after the job.
Where should my techs put them?
Directly on the equipment you serviced — furnace, air handler, water heater, panel door. That is where the homeowner looks when it fails. A fridge magnet works too, but equipment placement converts better.
Can we write the service date on it?
Yes, if we design a writable panel with uncoated finish. Most contractors want this: it doubles as a service record and puts your name on the next maintenance decision.
Are they worth the extra cost over cards?
Per piece they cost more than a card, but they stay in the house. Most contractors we work with order both — cards for the estimate handoff, magnets for the equipment.
